Alright guys and girls, it’s that time of year to plan a romantic night for your significant other. I think a lot of times, especially after you get married, date nights can fall into the category of going out to eat and seeing a movie, and trust me, I love doing both of those things, but sometimes it’s fun to switch it up a bit and do something unique!
While reading this list though, keep in mind your date. You definitely want to pick something you know they would enjoy and have fun with, that’s the most important thing!
Also, let me encourage all you married folks out there to continue to date your spouse! It is so important to have regular date nights, more than just on Valentine’s Day! So maybe save this list so you can keep the dates going, even after Valentine’s!
14 Unique Date Ideas
- Go to a hockey game (okay this is where this post idea came from, Todd and I always have a tradition of going to a hockey game and getting hot cocoa for our Valentine’s Date!)
- Skip the regular movie theatre and go to a historical one that shows old movies or to a play!
- Goodwill Dinner Date: go to goodwill and pick out outfits for each other, whatever the other person picks out you have to wear on your date to dinner.
- check out The Dating Divas website, they have the funnest ideas for both married and dating couples! I love this themed Ice night or this Hotel Slumber party for the married folks! Also, what girl wouldn’t love a target date?
- Go on a progressive dinner to all your favorite restaurants (or change it up and do all fast-food!!) Go to one place for an appetizer, another for main course, and a different restaurant for dessert!
- If it isn’t too cold, go on an early morning hike with a packable lunch to eat at the top with a beautiful view.
- Go to the store with no list and no recipe. Have a cooking competition at your house with only the ingredients you bought.
- Pull up some youtube karaoke videos to have a karaoke night without leaving the house! I especially love singing Disney karaoke like this one.
- Rent an Airbnb in the next town over and let your host suggest what to do/where to eat in town.
- Take a pottery class together.
- Find an arcade in your area and load up on quarters! In Roanoke we have the Pinball Museum, which would be a super fun date night!
- Go to the spa/get a pedicure together. Men can have clean feet too! Trust me, once they have one they won’t complain!
- Pull up old episodes of The Newlywed Games and play along with them!
- Go Star Gazing! Search around your area for an observatory. At UVA there is an observatory open twice a month to the public.
