As I was preparing to get married I read a lot of blogs about people’s wedding days. So, since this is prime wedding prep season I thought I would share a bit about our wedding. 🙂
Todd and I got married on June 10th, 2016. We were both 22 years old and had been dating for five years before!
Theme:
We had a general theme of “You Are My Sunshine” so our colors were yellow, mint/turquoise blue, gray, and a mix of silver and gold metals.
The Dress:
I actually bought my dress at the same place my mom had bought hers long ago, at a super cute boutique in West Virginia called Rosetree.
Fun fact, this dress was the first dress I tried on, but it was HUGE on me! I had gone into the plus size dresses and found this one in a size 28. It was the only one they had in the store. They clipped me up, but it was still hard to picture exactly how it would look but I loved the details of it and the price tag (right in my budget of just over 1000)! So I ordered it in my size, which was a bit of a leap of faith, but when it came in it fit almost perfectly! Just minor alterations. Speaking of alternations I used Sew Right LLC, and she did an absolutely amazing job!
Also, at Rosetree, the day I bought my dress, they had a promotion that if you bought a veil, you saved 400 dollars off your dress purchase. So I got a free veil and I little off my dress! I absolutely loved my veil! I thought I would want a cathedral veil, but when I tried it on it was way to much material. So I opted for this “elbow length” veil that was lined with swarovski crystals (swoon)!
The Shoes:
I bought these adorable flats from Joyfolie! I thought they were supper unique and something I could wear again after the wedding.
Bossing about my shoes because I couldn’t bend over in my dress 😉
The Rings:
Todd did an absolutely amazing job picking out both my engagement and wedding ring I totally steered him in the direction of the style of ring I wanted, but he picked it out all by himself. My engagement ring is the one in the middle and my wedding ring was the enhancer that goes around it. Todd got both at Kay’s and I have loved working with them. One of the small diamonds fell out and they replaced it no cost, and that insurance is for a lifetime!
P.S. If you are looking to buy a ring, shop on Valentine’s Day! That is when Todd got mine and he got a great sale.
You also know you love a ring, when your ring is on the Kay’s commercial and every time you watch it you say “wow what a pretty ring” and then you realize that it is the ring you have on! 😉
Todd didn’t want a silver or gold band for his ring, so we searched Pinterest endlessly and ended up with this hammered tungsten wedding band.
Other Jewels:
The only other piece of jewelry I wore was just this simple pair of dangly earrings. I went super budget friendly with these! I bought them at Versona.
The Perfume:
I had read somewhere about having a wedding perfume. Ideally a perfume you have never worn before to remind you of that time. I decided to go with my “staple” perfume for our wedding day, one that Todd knows me by. Then, for our honeymoon I bought Versace Bright Crystal to wear. I wore this the whole trip and just smelling it now still takes me back. It lasts a super long time and smells amazing! I love how smells have the power to bring back memories, so I suggest doing something like this for every big day!
The Garter:
I bought these handmade garters at a really great price off of etsy. It was so neat because they are each unique because they have different rhinestone centers. Before the seller makes yours she actually sends you a picture for of the rhinestones centers for you to pick which one you like the best!
Todd’s Suit:
Todd got his suit and shoes at Jos. A Banks. They had really great sale prices and customer service in stores. Be warned though, if they tailor your suit, check over it! We had to return it two times because they forgot to do something they were supposed to do. He also got his tie at Express.
The Stationary:
We got both our save the dates and our invitations done through minted. The site was great because it took care of not only our stationary, but also our RSVP list. It also had a list of everyone’s addresses that I still use today. If I were to go back, although I loved the invitations, they were a bit costly, so I might have gone with something else. However, besides the cost, minted was a great site!
We also got custom made RSVP cards that went in the invitations from easy. Our wedding program was done by a graphic designer I found through Liberty. The idea was for her to create cartoon characters that looked like us. I realized that this was easier said than done. We went back and forth a lot making changes, but then she had some type of emergency in her life, so I didn’t get the finished product exactly how I would have wanted it, however I still thought it turned out pretty cute. I especially love the font and how she worked the colors in the background! This was also the stress of the wedding day, because they were not printed and picked up until that morning! The back had all the details of people in the wedding and the order of events.

Obviously there are A LOT more details that went into our wedding, so I will be sharing more very soon! Next I will be sharing all about the Ceremony! Thanks for reading!
