If you know me then you know I’m a frequent shopper of Goodwill! I love the thrill of the hunt. I also love keeping up with the trends, but my wallet doesn’t, so I try to find as many items as I can second-hand. I would say at least 75% of my closet has been bought second-hand!
What’s awesome about the current trends is that many of them are items that you can now find at Goodwill (styles really do cycle through!). Obviously every trip will be different, you never know what you’ll find, but that’s exactly what I love about it!
A few notes about thrifting at Goodwill:
- Take note of the color of the day (half off!!! woot woot!)
- Don’t just look in your size, often you can find something you want in a size you normally wouldn’t wear
- When in doubt, try it on!
- Don’t be afraid to change an item. For example: take the shoulder pads out of blazer, or crop a pair of pants!
The other day I stopped by Goodwill, and found some great pieces for Fall, these are items that seem to be not only on the racks at our favorite retail stores, but also common on the racks at Goodwill! Chances are if you go and look, you will find something similar too!
Trends to Buy at Goodwill
Maxi/Midi skirts
I found this beautiful vintage black and white floral print skirt from Goodwill and styled it with a few basics from my closet. Straight maxi & midi skirts are super on trend for Fall this year.
A few different maxi/midi styles to look for at Goodwill:
- animal print of any kind (especially leopard)
- small floral print
- neutral shades
- buttons down the front.
Oversized Sweaters
I fell in love with this speckled sleeveless sweater for Fall. Sweaters are one of my favorite items to wear in the Fall time, especially if they are oversized (to pair with leggings!) Once again, I was able to pair this sweater from Goodwill with a few basics from my closet, for a perfect Fall look!
Remember to check in the larger sizes for sweaters to give you that oversized look! Also, make sure you feel the fabrics before you try on. Don’t bring home anything too itchy that you won’t actually wear!
Henley Shirt
I have seen just about every mainstream retailer selling henley shirts this fall. I love the classic look, but didn’t really want to spend $20+ a pop for them. I was so happy when I found both this tan and white henley in perfect condition at Goodwill! I also found these burnt orange cords at Goodwill too! Score!
Henley shirts can be fitted or oversized. Check in the men’s section for a more oversized look!
My local Goodwill is my favorite place to thrift, not only because of their amazing selection of products, but also because they help others right here in our local Virginia communities! Whenever we shop or donate, it helps fund programs that provide services to people who face barriers to employment or independence. 90 cents out of every dollar spent at Goodwill actually goes straight to support mission programs!
Alright? Who’s ready to shop?
Let me know it the comments below some of the treasures you’ve found while thrifting at Goodwill.
