Hey everyone! The twins are 9 months old and I’m just getting around to sharing their nursery! LOL #twinmomlife
First lets take a panorama view of the nursery so you can see what we are working with…
Not the best pictures, haha, but you can see that their nursery has slanted ceilings and was rather challenging! Their room is right across the hall from ours in the finished attic. Each wall has either a door, window, or vents, which made crib placement rather challenging!
The Theme
I’m not a big theme gal, and I knew I wanted neutral colors (natural wood, black, gray, white, and rust). When we had some extra testing done to check for possible complications with one of our babies after a soft marker for DS on our anatomy scan, I listened to the song Dancing on the Waves by Bethel a lot. It gave me peace knowing that whatever our future held, God had a plan! My favorite part of the song is the lyrics seen in the sign we had made for the boys room in the picture above. “I set every start into place, so you would remember my name, I made it all for you.” (P.S. if you haven’t listened to the song, you really should! check it out here). These lyrics made me want to do a slight outer space theme without being too cheesy!
This sign we had custom made by Well Wood Designs. I was able to contact them and they helped personalize the font, placement, etc!
The Cribs:
I read a lot of reviews on cribs, and ultimately settled on the very affordable Ikea sniglar. (You can buy on Amazon!) I like that they were non toxic and natural wood and affordable…but also safe! We splurged on the Newton mattresses because a breathable (and easy to clean!) mattress gave me peace of mind! When using a breathable mattress, you also want to make sure you stick to cotton muslin sheets! I love these sun, moon, and stars sheets, as well as this darker set I also picked up when it was time for a wash! They are super soft and light weight!
I also picked up these beautiful constellation baby blankets for the boys. As well as a star and moon pillow, and a constellation pillow. No worries, we remove all of these items when they sleep ;). I loved buying a lot of these items from Etsy because I was able to support small businesses in this crazy time!
You’ll notice we also placed vent covers to help the air not blow directly on the babies. We spray painted them white to help them blend in the wall better. We also got this outlet safety box to help keep the boys safe with the outlet that is right by the crib!
You’ll notice in these pics we also have docked this monitor on the boys cribs, with the help of this clasp! It gives a great view of them. We have now since moved these to be attached to the wall since they are mobile!
The Dresser/Changing Table:
I knew we didn’t have room for both a dresser and a changing table so we combined both into one. This dresser was the perfect size and height. We spiced it up a bit by changing out the handles with these leather pulls from IKEA. Also, we added the keekaroo changing peanut to the top, which has been very sturdy. We also have the hatch in another room and love it (just as much if not more!)
To the left we have this awesome rolling cart to help keep all the baby necessities (burp clothes, blankets, diapers, medicine, etc.) organized!
To the right we have our Ubbi diaper pail, which we are very impressed with (no smell!) along with this vintage wooden wagon (similar wagon) that was gifted to us for our baby shower! We also placed these beautiful wooden blocks in the wagon for the boys to play with (these blocks are an awesome price on amazon!)
To help with the sun coming in we have both our bamboo shade and a black out shade to pull over top of it!
Other items on dresser linked:
I love when decor is both attractive and functional. For these shelves we decided to use mainly items that we would be using with the boys anyway!
Rocking Chair/Book Nook:
This little area is so cozy and sweet! I knew it would be the perfect spot to rock our boys and read them many books! We got this glider, and after many of nightly sitting in it, I would say it’s a winner! We also love our Hatch Sound machine, which we use every night!
Links to other items in area:
copper pillow (similar)/ other
Rug (p.s. this isn’t super soft and sheds a lot, if I had a do over I might pick a different one, even though I love the look!)
We love the little nook we have created for our boys to grow in and we hope they grow to love it too!
