Wedding Season is upon us! Before I got married I was searching everywhere to find the best makeup to wear on my wedding day. I still wanted to look like myself, but I wanted my makeup to last the whole day with little touch up.
So today I thought I would share with you all what makeup I wore on my wedding day to hopefully give you a few ideas in case you are getting married, or if you just want a few new makeup ideas! There is a mix of high end products and drugstore!
Primer:
I’m not really a primer person, but I decided to give it a go for my wedding. I tried out Benefit’s Porefessional Primer. It made my skin nice and smooth looking, my only complaint is you don’t get a ton of product for the cost.
Foundation:
I wanted a foundation that didn’t look cakey or drying so I went with Urban Decay’s Naked Skin in shade 4.5. This stuff is awesome! I would call it medium coverage. Also, it never has broken out my skin.
Concealer:
For concealer I also went with Urban Decay’s Naked Skin concealer in shade Med-Light. This stuff is great for any zits, and is also good for under eye dark circles (which I always have!).
If you want a brighter shade under your eyes I would definitely get a few shades lighter than you might think. Med-Light fit me when I had a tan, so it runs a little darker than you might think.
Blush/Highlighter:
For blush and highlighter I used this awesome Wet n Wild Megaglo palette in Catwalk. This product is under five dollars (PRAISE!). The highlight is what makes this palette great, because it is not powdery at all, just gives a great glowy look! This is a great product to try if you are a little nervous about trying highlighter; not too much of an investment.
Bronzer:
For bronzer I used the Bronze Booster from Physicians Formula. I have not tried a bronzer from Physicians Formula that I did not like, so this was the one I was using at the time, but I’ve tried almost all of them. I always dust bronzer all over just to look a bit more tan and glowy!
Eyeshadow/Brows:
For eyeshadow I used the Smashbox Full Exposure palette. I used the bottom right brown shade for my lids. I also used the bottom left brown to fill in my brows. Honestly, now that I have the Too-Faced Semi-Sweet Palette, I would recommend that instead for eyeshadow, but I really still like this palette, and I still use it to fill in my eyebrows everyday! The glitter shades are not the best, but the matte ones are great.
Mascara:
I am a Maybelline girl when it comes to mascara! I’ve probably tried just about every one that they make. My favorite is the Rocket Volume Express mascara! So I just made sure I bought a new tube of this mascara about two weeks before, so that the mascara wouldn’t be brand new but wouldn’t be dried out (I think around 2 weeks is the sweet spot for mascara lol)! Oh and I always use waterproof (tears!)
Eyeliner:
Okay, so this product is like a PSA. Essence eyeliner pen in black is under three dollars, it doesn’t smudge, stays all day, and doesn’t try out. I have tried more expensive ones that do at least one of those things. Also this is truly like a pen. You don’t have to sharpen it, but it rolls up for you to use.
I only wear this eyeliner on my top eyelid. On my bottom eyelid I actually wear mascara as eyeliner, which I know sounds crazy, but it works for me.
Lips:
I was so lucky to find this lip product. I randomly went in the drugstore and tried a random shade I thought I would like and just crossed my fingers that it worked, and did it ever! I seriously love this stuff! The Rimmel Provocalips is the best liquid lips I have yet to try! I have gotten at least two other people hooked on this stuff! I wore the shade 750 heartbreaker, which is a shade I would normally tend to, but if it’s not your color I would still recommend checking out the line for another shade! The color does not wear off, even when you eat. By the end of the day the color had faded, but had faded naturally and not in a random gross looking way. Also, the gloss side is the bomb! It smells great and isn’t sticky at all! I literally cannot say enough good things about this product!
Setting Spray:
Setting Spray was something I had never tried until I was planning my wedding makeup and decided to go for it to see if it helped extend the life of my makeup and now I am hooked! I love the L’Oreal Paris Infalliable Setting Spray. This spray is not matte or glossy, just kind of like a hairspray for your face!
So that is all I used for my makeup for my wedding day! I definitely wanted to do it myself so that I knew I would still look like myself and I am so glad I did!
I had one person tell me at my reception that I was the only bride they had seen that still looked like I had just put my makeup on, and that I didn’t look worn or tired! That compliment meant a lot to me. I think it was all because of the products I used though!
Do you guys have any must have wedding day makeup? If so let me know, I’m always loving to try new makeup products!
