It’s time for my August book review!!!
Woohoo!!
This month was full of more of the “thriller” type of storyline, that’s just what I’ve been in the mood to read recently!
Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough: I listened to this story on audiobook and loved it. It’s slow pace but at the same time the slow pace is interesting and purposeful. The author doesn’t want to reveal too much. I think if I would have had this book in print I would have read it in just a few days! The ending has a great twist, and is different from anything else I’ve read before. If you enjoy thrillers and mysteries, I would definitely add this to your list!
In a Dark, Dark Wood by Ruth Ware: I’m a big fan of Ruth Ware after reading The Woman in Cabin 10, so I had to pick up this book as well! This book was great, but not near as great to me as The Woman in Cabin 10. The story follows a group of friends who are in a cabin for a bachelorette family. Someone ends up dead, and the main character has to end up figuring out what happened while suffering from slight amnesia. There was stuff I didn’t predict for sure, but it wasn’t mind blowing, still a great read though!
The Dry by Jane Harper: I feel like this was a classic mystery story. The story starts with a man in a small town community that supposedly killed his wife and son, and then himself. An old friend, who is now a cop, comes in to town and investigates. I will say I found the ending slightly predictable, but I still enjoyed the ride the story took me on!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling: I had put this book off for awhile because I didn’t want it change my feelings about Harry Potter. Honestly to me, this book was not a disappointment! While the style was not exactly my favorite, the story did take me back to the good old days of middle school! It really did feel like another Harry Potter story installment. If you are a Harry Potter fan then you definitely need to read this! The storyline follows Harry’s son that wants to be nothing like him, and happens to be in Slytherin.
So that wraps up August!
What should I read in September? Tell me in the comments below!
