WOOOHOO! Snow Day here at the Holloway household!
Snow days are always such a great day to binge watch some Netflix so I thought I would share with you 10 Netflix shows I have personally binged (mostly with my husband) in case you are looking for a new show. Now, I plan on doing a few editions of these posts, so today I’m sharing 10 shows that are pretty popular, however, If for some reason you haven’t watched them all, then make sure you watch these first before all the others! (They are cult classics for a reason!)
Also, I should mention my husband and I often have at least one funny and one more dramatic or serious show going on, and we watch whatever we are in the mood for, so I’ll try to provide a good mix.
So without further ado, in no particular order:
1. Friends
I was listening to the radio the other day and learned there is actually a large percentage of the population that has not watched through Friends! My mind was blown! Before my husband and I watched through all ten seasons (it took us a whole year of college…lol), I would occasionally catch an episode on tv, and thought it was just okay. However, once I actually started it from the beginning and got attached to the characters then I loved it! If you are in this percentage that hasn’t watched it and are thinking you won’t like it based off of random episodes you’ve seen, then please reconsider! 😀
2. The Office
If you haven’t watched the office because “it’s not your type of humor” I totally understand, however give it a chance. This is truly one of those shows that you have to watch till at least the third season to truly appreciate the humor. Like seriously, first season, not that good, second season, just okay, third season, money. So then you may ask, should I just start at the third season? Nope. You have to go along with the character development and storyline, trust me, it won’t take long to get there and it will be worth it. I cried on the last episode. That’s how much you will end up loving it! Lol If you for some reason don’t know what the office is about, it follows a group of normal people who work at a paper company. It’s like a pretend documentary style show.
3. Parks and Rec.
Parks and Rec. is super similar to the Office. It starts off not that great, until about the third season again. Really it doesn’t get great until a character named Ben comes into the picture. Todd and I actually haven’t finished Parks and Rec. yet. We are currently in season 5, and it seriously just gets better and better. The show follows a group of people that work in the Parks and Recreation Department in a small town. I legit laugh out loud all the time. I dare say, this show is actually even better than The Office!
4. Reign
Reign is a super dramatic, can’t wait to watch the next episode type of show, that follows Mary Queen of Scots. If you are into monarchy history, then this show is for you! There is definitely a lot of relationship drama, but my husband even got into it quite a bit because of the battles and such, so it’s something couples can definitely watch together.
5. Pretty Little Liars
Pretty Little Liars follows a group of high school girlfriends that had a life changing event happen when the leader of their pack went missing. Each girl has her own secret she is hiding. This show takes you on a huge ride, and at some times you ask yourself…really? But overall the show is a fun one to get sucked into. I watched this one solo, not really my husband’s cup of tea, lol.
6. Gilmore Girls
This show takes me back to high school, because everytime I would get a new season on DVD I would binge watch it (and then rewatch) during Christmas break or Summer. Gilmore girls follows the story of a single mom and daughter who live in a small town. You get to see their relationships and how the grow together. The show has so many fun pop culture references too, which makes it extra fun to watch. A lot of people say the first few episodes don’t suck them in right away, but again, you need to give this one time, and eventually you will love it. Netflix also recently released a new four part movie/tv episodes to catch up with the characters “now.” Overall it was good, but the original was better! 🙂
7. Criminal Minds
I’m a crime show junkie, and this one does not disappoint. I’m sure most of you have caught an episode of Criminal Minds here and there, however watching it through is really enjoyable because you get the full story line. Now this will not be for everyone. It is mainly focused on solving murder cases, so for the faint of heart, I would avoid this. Also, this is a commitment, a full 12 seasons. However, this is honestly the show I will turn on if I don’t know what else to watch because you always get your solution by the end of the episode. I have watched through 11 seasons, and when I just looked it up, realized that I need to watch the 12th. Also, I believe this show is still being aired, so there will still be more to come!
8. Stranger Things
Stranger Things was a true binge for Todd and I. I think we watched the first season in 48 hours. I’m sure most of you have heard the buzz around this show. The story line follows a group of friends in the 80’s. One of their friends goes missing randomly, without a trace, however, a new girl shows up as well, who doesn’t seem to be “normal.” There are currently only 2 seasons (and around 10 episodes per season), so it is not huge commitment. I just can’t even communicate how good this show is, seriously, so addicting!
9. Lost
I feel like Todd and I committed our first year of marriage to Lost, lol. Lost is an older show, that follows strangers around who crashed on a deserted island…or so they think. This show has a lot of twists and turns, and a lot of people are disappointed in the finale, when you finally get all the answers. We actually weren’t overly disappointed and just enjoyed the story.
10. Riverdale
Riverdale is a newer show that is based off of the Archie comics. One of the richest families in town has a son who was murdered. This is a show that mixes teenage drama with a mystery. There is only one season currently on Netflix and currently season two is on tv. Todd and I binged this over a week or so and really enjoyed it!
I feel like I just brushed the surface of shows to binge on Netflix (trust me I have more). Also, there are so many shows that I want to watch, but just haven’t had a chance to yet! So let me know in the comments below which of these shows have you watched and enjoyed, and also let me know what shows I still need to watch!
Thanks for stopping by!
