Happy Book Day! There is something about Winter, and especially Christmas that makes me want to read!
I read three books this December, less than normal, mainly because all of the fun Christmas activities! All three were Christmas themed books. None of these books I feel like you have to go out and read right away, but they were all good stories none the less. I would give them all 3 out of 5 stars.
1. The Christmas List by Richard Paul Evans: This was a cute feel good story about a man that is a bit of a “Scrooge” and goes through a life-change. The story had a sweet ending, that did make me cry, but overall wasn’t anything you have to go out and read right away! It was a really quick read though!
2. Lost December by Richard Paul Evans: My second Evans book, and this one I also enjoyed. It had a prodigal son story line to it. It honestly did not have a strong Christmas story-line to it, however it was still a feel good story. I feel about the same as I did for The Christmas List. It was good and cute, but nothing jaw-dropping. I am not super familiar with Richard Paul Evans books, but his books definitely have a Christian theme to them, and I really enjoy that aspect.
3. Blue Christmas by Mary Kay Andrews: I have read a few Mary Kay Andrews stories and have been impressed, so when I saw this in the library I was excited to find a book of hers that was under 200 pages! It was a quick read with another cute Christmas story, again nothing spectacular though. This is a series, so I might look into the other books. This is book number three, however I didn’t feel like it was hard to jump into!
Alright, if your like me you probably got your fill of feel good Christmas stories this last month between reading and Hallmark movies, so in January I am off to read some others I have been meaning to read for awhile.
If you are looking for a new book to read I would recommend my favorite book of all of 2017….
This is such an amazing thriller, and yes I know most of you have probably already read this because it’s been very talked about, but if you haven’t, you really must read it!
Also, I “read’ this book on audiobook, and really enjoyed it. It was fun having a mystery read to me in an awesome British accent, and there was no way I could cheat and look ahead (because I seriously might have had I had the actual paper copy).
For 2018 my goal is to read 40 books, so I will definitely still be posting my monthly book reviews!
What are you currently reading and how many books are you wanting to read in 2018?
Happy Reading!
