Days of a Wife

by Kasey Holloway

October and November Recent Reads

November 30, 2017

Whew! I have been on a reading kick recently. In October I only read 2 books, so I decided not to post, but then in November I read so many! All the books below I enjoyed and would recommend! No duds!

Today I am linking up with Narci for the Carpool Book Club. I love checking out what others are reading! That’s really where I get so many of my suggestions!

First up was The Lying Game by Ruth Ware. If you didn’t know already I’m a big Ruth Ware fan, I’ve read both of her other books. I listened to this on audiobook and I have to say that Ruth Ware’s books on audiobook are the best (British accent…lol). I enjoyed this book, however it was my list favorite out of her three books. This one was the most predictable, and maybe drug out a little longer than necessary. However, it was still a good story, and I would recommend it.

Next up was Station Eleven. I used to read a ton of Dystopian style books, and I still do on occasion. So when I heard this mentioned on the What Should I Read Next? Podcast I knew I had to check it out. The premise of the story is a flu virus kills almost everyone on Earth, and the world goes back to simpler and scarier time with all the remnants of times before. I really enjoyed this story, and it was better written than most other Dystopian novels. It had a lot of amazing quotes and things that really made me think! I would definitely check this one out if it sounds like something you would enjoy!

I flew through The Marriage Lie! If you love a good thriller, this one is for you. The book follows a woman who found out her husband was on a flight to Seattle that crashed (he died) and she thought he was on a flight to Florida. She unravels her husband’s past and tries to figure out if she really ever knew him!

Okay, I definitely don’t want to say too much about Behind Closed Doors, but this was an awesome edge of your seat thriller. It’s actually a little bit scary, and sort of reminded me of a Criminal Minds episode. It takes an inside glimpse of a seemingly perfect marriage…just read this one if you aren’t too chicken! 😉

So I totally flipped out and reserved The Cuckoo’s Calling right away when I found out that J.K. Rowling writes under a different name and has a mystery series!! This book follows the story of a detective trying to solve the death of a high profile celebrity. It was a classic murder mystery, so I enjoyed it, but wasn’t blown away. However, I have heard that each book within the series just gets better, so I intend to keep reading the series.

After all the thrillers and mysteries I had been reading I really needed a break. So I listened to Winter Solstice on audiobook. Elin Hilderbrand really never disappoints, especially in her Winter Street Series (this is the 4th). I absolutely love this story, I love how the book makes me feel nice and Christmassy. I enjoy Christmas books, and intend to read more in December, however, these stories aren’t cheesy Hallmark (which I also love). They have a bit more of a real life feel to them, while still being set in Nantucket (dreamy…). I really hope this isn’t the last in the series!

So what should I read next? Let me know in the comments below!
