This is the final post all about our Disney honeymoon…
And this post actually has very little to do with Disney, and a lot more to do with Universal!
June 21st: we checked out of Animal Kingdom Lodge and took an uber ride to the Hard Rock Hotel on Universal property.
You get a lot of “perks” to staying on property at Universal, including a type of express pass, and you get in the park an hour before everyone else.
The room was super pretty. The coolest part, which I don’t have a picture of, was the mirror, that had the heights of a lot of celebrities on it.
We ate that evening at one of the restaurants at the hotel (not the actual Hard Rock Cafe restaurant). The food was so good! You can see the “free appetizer” was delicious! Pretzel bread and cornbread…yes please!
June 22nd: We got up early the next morning so that we could get in before everyone else. Guys this is a Universal hack. If you care at all about Harry Potter (that’s probably the main reason we went), then head straight there right when it opens. There were about 10 workers waiting to greet us and take your picture, and with no crowds we got this awesome picture! This might not seem that amazing, but once you see how busy it gets, you know that this is rare! #norandompeopleinpics
We rode the Hogwarts Express between parks (with no wait!). You have to have the tickets that go between the parks to ride this, sort of like a “park hopper.”
I tried out the phone booth that you are supposed to be able to call the Ministry of Magic, but I think it was down that day. If you don’t know about this secret of Universal, read about it here.
We also bought a wand at Universal. We bought the interactive one, so that way we could go around the park and use it for all the tricks. It was a fun experience, but that’s a very busy attraction, so sometimes it got a little annoying.
We ate lunch at the Three Broomsticks, which we both thought was pretty good and well themed. Todd got the pumpkin fizz drink and enjoyed it.
We also tried our first butter beer! This stuff is amazing! It’s basically like cream soda, but better. I personally preferred the frozen over the regular.
#butterbeerstache
Then we explore more of Universal, including the cartoon land. There are so many of these cute signs to stand under!
We also rode a ton of rides, but we don’t have pictures from those because Universal isn’t really as cool as Disney is with the whole picture package thing.
Two of our favorite rides though were the Jurassic Park ride, and Dudley Do Right Ripsaw Falls. Both of this will get to wet, but the Ripsaw Falls will soak you! My advice would be wear a bath suit to Universal underneath, there are a good amount of water rides.
We also got a few treats at Harry Potter World. We each got a chocolate frog.
The most expensive piece of chocolate ($10) I’ve ever bought.
And I got these exploding Bonbons. In my opinion, skip the candy from Harry Potter world, it’s overpriced for what you actually get, but it is sort of fun to try.
June 23rd: Next day we were back at it for Universal day 2! In my opinion, we only needed two days for Universal to do pretty much everything we wanted, so it worked out perfectly!
We explored some of the other areas including the Jurassic Park area.
And Seuss Landing….
And the Knight Bus….
Also Universal has some really neat areas that actually make you feel like your walking through a neighborhood.
Honey I’m home!
We rode a ton more rides and stayed for the fireworks. We then walked back to our hotel and crashed, but first we got ice cream!
Our hotel had the best smelling ice cream shop…it was very tempting…we gave in…yes that is a rice crispy cone….with dark chocolate ice-cream!
We also watched the NBA draft, lol.
June 24th: We checked out of the Hard Rock and took an uber ride over to the Pop Century resort back on Disney property. We ended up having to stay this extra day because of our flight back home, so we dropped our luggage off and then took the bus to Downtown Disney.
We explored Lego Land (Todd’s dream)
Do I blend in? 😉
We shopped a little, got a Christmas ornament made, and got our last little bit of Mickey in!
We ended our trip with watching the Cirque Du Soleil show. Go see this show if you can! This was so entertaining, and nothing like a typical “circus.”
June 25th: We headed home! At this point we were so exhausted from theme parks and we were ready to go home!
So that sums up our awesome Honeymoon! If you are an adult wondering if you should go to Disney, I say GO! Disney does it right! I would recommend it to anyone old or young!
I can’t wait to go back!
