Ahhh the weather is warming up slowly and I am already getting so excited for one of my favorite times of year! Easter! Easter definitely feels like a Holiday that switches us over from the long cold days of winter, to the cheery warm days of Spring & Summer!
I love filling Easter baskets each year (before my boys I made them for my husband!) 18 month old toddlers can be a bit of a hard age to shop for, they are too old for a lot of the baby toys (rattles, teethers, etc.) but they are too young for a lot of toys & candy that are choking hazards!
I tried to buy practical items for their baskets this year that they would love and use!
P.S. I also have their Easter baskets from last year in a blog post if you need ideas for your baby under the age of 1!
Let’s start with the activity items:
Water Wow books & Magic Marker books: These are great non mess coloring ideas perfect for beginning colorers like my boys! These are great for in the car too! (While I linked some you can buy, I was able to find mine at Target in the dollar spot, and at T.J. Maxx for a cheaper price!)
Paint with Water coloring book & regular coloring book: Again a mess free option with the paint with water! Also, can’t go wrong with a basic coloring book with some favorite characters! (Again, check dollar tree or the Target dollar spot for coloring books!)
Sidewalk Chalk: While there are lots of cute easter egg chalk options, I opted for this huge tub for $6! Such a great deal!
The necessities:
The boys definitely needed a new swim suit for our upcoming beach trip, so I got them an adorable suit from H&M. I don’t see the exact one on their site currently, but this one is super cute & very similar!
I love the idea of putting items in your child’s Easter basket that you were going to have to buy anyway! I ran out of room to put much else in the basket, but sandals or crocs, googles, floaties, sun hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug spray, new pajamas, new tshirt or dress are all great ideas!
The Toys:
Melissa & Doug Sand Baking turtle set: We are going to the beach in May, so I knew I wanted to get them some sand toys! I thought this set was cute, a great price, and simple!
Mickey & Yoda Pop-it: These pop-it fiddle toys are so popular right now! While you can buy just about any thing you want in these, I love that disney has now launched a collection! These are very well made and so cute! There are so many more options including Minnie, Olaf, Ariel, and Stitch!
Haba musical eggs: okay these were a bit of a splurge, but I honestly couldn’t find any cheaper “dupe” for these besides regular “rice” shakers. I think my boys will LOVE these and all the different sounds they make! I know they love some simple instruments like this from music class, so I think these will be a hit! And they totally fit the “Egg” theme for Easter!
Books:
Near (Psalm 139): This beautiful board book is written by the same company who makes the Jesus Storybook Bible (one of our favs!). The illustrations are beautiful and the story talks about how God is with them where ever they go! Also, it’s a fun “I-spy” type of book because the last page has all the different things the kid has travelled in all over her room! (for example a space ship night light!)
Found (Psalm 23): Another board book by the same company as the Jesus Storybook Bible, this book reminds children how God always cares for them! I think this cover is very “Eastery” & Spring like too!
Llama Llama Red Pajama: My boys LOVE Llama Llama over here! This classic was one we needed.
First 100 Animals: We have loved our copy of Baby’s First 100 words. My boys have learned so much from it! So this book seemed like a great addition, especially since we are very into animals & animal sounds at the moment!
Treats:
While I don’t like for my boys to have too much sugar. I thought a few Reese’s eggs, and a cute Bunny cookie (found this at Target) would be okay to add to their baskets! I also added some Bobo’s chocolate chip oat bites which they have never tried before! I still might throw in a few of their favorite pouches as well to fill in any gaps in the basket!
Alrighty! That’s it! Let me know what your favorite thing to put in your child’s easter basket is! I always love seeing what other parents come up with!
