Last post I shared with you the first part of our Key West trip that we took with the seniors from my school. So today let me share with you the rest of the trip!
The next day of our trip we started of the day visiting Smather’s Beach.
Smatter’s was a beautiful beach, and way less rocky than Zachary Taylor Beach, however there was a ton of seaweed! Just a warning, if you can’t swim with seaweed around, then don’t plan on getting in the water. The kids hung hammocks and we just chilled on the beach for awhile.
Then we went to this bridge that is more of a local secret (although quickly becoming more of a tourist attraction). The pastor we were working with recommended it. Pretty much it was a jumping bridge, that was about 15 feet high that had a deep canal below.
The pictures do not do the height justice. It’s a scary jump, but a very fun adventure!
Below is the view from the top of the bridge.
We ended the evening with once again going to Mallory Square. However, the evening was different than every other. Once a year in April they do a reenactment at Mallory Square of when the independent Conch Republic was formed.
We also enjoyed a few of the street performers that evening. Todd even got picked to help in one of the shows!
Tip: Be prepared to tip the street performers! They ask after their performance, and their quality of performance is very high. So bring at least a few bucks to give them.

The next day we loaded up and drove all the way to Islamorada!
We went to Robbie’s Marina and fed the very large Tarpon! This is a very affordable, and fun experience. I would definitely recommend it!
We then went on a four hour fishing party boat. It was so affordable, way more affordable than anything else I saw, so definitely look into it.
The water was super choppy, and a few people on our boat got sea sick (so be prepared with Dramamine!)
We were able to catch a ton of fish, and the staff is very helpful if you’ve never fished before.
Afterwards they fillet your fish for you. (be prepared to tip again!)
And then you can take your fish to the restaurant off the dock called the Hungry Tarpon. They will cook your catch (15 dollars per pound with two sides).
Our fish all cooked!
I myself though opted for steak! 😉
The next day we attended church and started our drive home. We did break up our long drive by stopping in Jacksonville and going to Top Golf!
If you’ve never played Topgolf, look up a video of it. It pretty much is a driving range on steroids! I think this was one of the favorite things we did on the whole trip for some of the kids!
Lastly, let me just share with you a few pictures of how beautiful Key West is! It really is just a photogenic little town!
The local Walgreens! haha
Hope you enjoyed hearing about our trip to Key West! Have you guys visited before? Anything we missed that we have to do next time? Thanks for stopping by!
