WOW! July absolutely flew by! I feel like I literally came back from the recent trip I was on and then BAM it was fall!
July literally felt like a week, lol!
Here’s a recap of what we were up to in July! 🙂
I started the month with going on a quick medical trip with my Mom and brother, we made a few fun pit stops along the way though! 🙂
We went to a WildLife National Park and the coolest part about it was seeing the Manatees!
When I got back we spent some time hammocking on the fourth of July (along with a picnic up at Explore Park)
Todd also got slimed for an event at our church….and I washed the clothes hahaha 😀
I too participated in the Kidz Blitz event at church as one of the team captains!
Todd surprised me before my birthday with some succulents and a plant mister.
I love his little note lol (he wanted to let me know that this was not all my b-day present)
And I loved how I had been making a list of random items that I left sitting on the kitchen table and he crossed off what he got me and left it there 🙂 Gifts is my love language so little things like this just make me so happy 🙂
Then we went to Greensboro for two days to celebrate my b-day and to just get away. We stayed in our first Airbnb, ate lots of delicious food, and went to Wet n’ Wild. You can check out what else we did in Greensboro here and here.
Then, when we returned from our trip, it was my actual b-day, so Todd gave me the rest of my presents!
And he threw me a small b-day party with friends. We played games and ate mini cheesecakes! Funny story though, Todd was going to go to this local gourmet cupcake place to get me cupcakes for the party, well Google says they were open, but I guess just for the summer they are closed on Sunday. So then we checked every other gourmet dessert place we could think of and nothing was open (it was Sunday). So we ended up going to Fresh Market (a local organic grocery store) and getting the cheesecakes! I loved them and was just as happy! I just felt sorry for Todd having to run around! He had it all planned out and it just didn’t go the way he wanted! lol
We also, at some point in the month of July, had my b-day celebration with my Mom. She got me the 23andMe kit, and I can’t wait to learn about my heritage!
Then we had a big young adults event called Wakefest! We hammocked, grilled, and boated at Smith Mountain Lake! The weather was perfect and we had the BEST time!

His face on this one kills me!
Next up in July was our trip to Panama City, Florida! We went there for a youth camp called BigStuf. It’s awesome because the camp rents out the whole hotel and it’s right on the beach! It was a huge camp, and Todd and I were so blessed to be able to go as leaders!
The crazy thing is we left at 2 in the morning to get there by dinner time! Yikes! We were exhausted and literally just crashed when we came back (the ride home was similar), but we were so glad we went!
There were quite a few of us there helping as leaders from our young adult group, so Jasmine (the one next to me) made us these amazing tie-dye shirts to rock!
The artsiness of the camp was amazing (see instagram wall below) and I took home a lot of ideas for our ministry!
The worship and the messages were absolutely amazing! The whole theme was to be an Original, which in my opinion was probably the best message to send today’s youth! They don’t have to fit in with the crowd, be your own person and follow Christ, even if it is different!
One of the songs that the camp made me fall in love with is this one:
Another fun part about camp is that Todd and I taught some of our students how to play Werewolf! They were hooked! (If you haven’t played before, I know it sounds weird, but it’s literally the most addicting game!)
Also, my group of girls were amazing!!! I had rising 11th and 12th graders and their faith was so encouraging to me!
On the last day of camp we ended with 16 baptisms from our church alone!
Once we came home from camp it seemed like it had turned to Fall! I went into T.J. Maxx and there was a ton of Fall clothes and now people are starting back to school! It always shocks me at how fast Summer goes by!
To end out July Todd and I decided to hit up Duck Donuts one morning for breakfast before he went to work! 🙂
Whew! So that sums up July! Typing this up I realized that July flew because I spent at least half of it out of town! Traveling always makes time go faster!
August though should be a bit calmer! (I always say that…then life happens lol!)
Anyway, thank you for stopping by! Leave me a comment below letting me know what you were up to in the month of July!
