Can I get an woo-hoo for Summer reading!?
I always love reading at the beach or pool during the Summer, and this year has been no different. Although I’ve been fairly busy and haven’t been able to read as much as I would have hoped (I also haven’t been able to post my reads for the past few months), I’ve still been able to get quite a few books on my TBR read!
P.S. if you want to see what else I’ve been reading in previous months, click HERE.
The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
The Seven Deaths was definitely one of my favorite books so far this year, even though it was so different from what I normally read. This book has a “groundhog day” theme (living the same day over and over) to it in the best possible way. It might be a slow start, but stick it out because this is a fun one!

The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
If you know me, then you know I love thrillers, and especially thrillers written by Ruth Ware. I have read every single one of her novels, so I was thrilled to receive an advanced copy of her latest thriller: The Turn of the Key (thanks Netgalley…also all opinions are my own!). This novel will be available Aug. 6th, you can go ahead and preorder it here now; and trust me this is one you do not want to miss out on. The story follows a girl that goes to be a Nanny at a “smart house” but quickly things start to get a little weird and creepy. I don’t want to give to much away, but this book will definitely meet all your needs of wanting that shocking twist.

Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus
After reading One of Us is lying by McManus, I knew I wanted to pick up her newest Two Can Keep a Secret. I think I have the unpopular opinion because I liked this book better than One of Us is Lying (and I really liked that one too). This is a well written, fast paced, YA thriller that kept me guessing till the end!

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
I’m not sure if it’s the Summer of 2019 if you haven’t read Where the Crawdads Sing. This book has been hyped up, and to me it totally lived up to the hype. The story follows a girl who lives in the Marsh (which is considered the trashy place to live) all through her life (through her trials with school, boys, and her family). The book had me crying at the end, which always means it was a good read. So if you haven’t read this yet, make sure you do.

The Girl He Used to Know by Tracey Garvis Graves
The Girl He Used to know is a cute love story following a girl that has autism reconnecting with her college sweatheart. The author does a great job dealing with the main character’s autism and also brings light to the social complexities of the disorder. Somehow I originally thought this book was a mystery, so I really went in blind. It’s not my typical genre, but I really enjoyed it!

Southern Lady Code by Helen Ellis
I picked this book up randomly when I needed something light for traveling on a trip. It is composed of short “essays” that all revolve around being a southern lady (or more like a desperate housewife). While some of the stories I found funny, most of them I found crude. I was honestly super happy when this book was over. Not my cup of tea.

The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
I have been seeing The Silent Patient all over bookstagram and blogs with no negative reviews, and now I totally understand why! This book is a fantastic thriller that makes you not want to put the book down (even if it is 3am in the morning…lol). The story follows a therapist that goes to help a girl that has been silent ever since she was accused of killing her husband. The therapist works with her to try to speak again and of course, that’s when the story unfolds!
Rating: 4/5 Stars
This book is definitely different from anything else I have read, because it follows a fictional band through their ups and of fame. I wasn’t sure if I was going to love it, and quite frankly I didn’t, but I do think Taylor Jenkins Reid did a great job of capturing the life of rock n’ roll. It just overall wasn’t my favorite topic matter.

So that wraps up what I have been reading! I can’t wait for next month because I already have some good ones lined up!
What have you been reading and loving lately?
