Hello Everyone! I’m pumped because today is my first day of Summer, and of course it wouldn’t be Summer (at least for me) without a good Summer read! I plan on reading a ton this Summer, I have so many books on my TBR list it’s making me crazy…lol!
Hopefully today though if you are unsure of what to read this Summer, I can give you a few suggestions, or if your like me, I can add a few more to your long TBR list! 🙂
I read four books this month, and truly all were winners! 🙂
Okay I actually listened to Into the Water on audiobook, so this might make my opinion different from others (I heard a lot of people weren’t crazy about this one), but I absolutely loved it. This book took you on a trip for sure! The story follows some people in a town that were effected by two suspicious drownings. There is definitely a lot of drama in this one, however it wasn’t like a scary thriller. There is a twist at the end as well. Also, listening on audiobook, you get british accents, which might have made me love this book even more!
I’ve been on a bit of an Agatha Christie kick recently, just trying to read a few more classic mystery novels. So I picked up The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. This was a good story, however it did have a slow burn in the beginning, but, once the plot got going I really enjoyed it, and I actually did not predict the murderer, so it was fun to be surprised! If you haven’t read Agatha Christie, I wouldn’t recommend this one first, however, it’s still a solid mystery read.
Little Earthquakes seemed to be a really random choice for me this month, but I did so at the recommendation of another blogger, and I absolutely loved it. While I am not a mom right now, I totally enjoyed the story of motherhood struggles in this book. The story follows four moms who all have totally different lives, but having babies brings them together. They all struggle in their own way, but every reader can probably find at least one woman in the story they relate to. This honestly would be a great summer beach read because it’s super light and funny, and I feel like new moms would especially enjoy this one!
After just about everyone and there mom had been recommending Girl, Wash Your Face, I knew I had to read it, and ya’ll this book is FIRE! Seriously, this is the best motivational book I’ve ever read! When I read a so called “self-help” book sometimes it feels like work, but ya’ll this book read like butter (is that a saying…?) and it kept me reading! If you decide to read one book this summer, this should be the one. Especially if you are currently dreaming about something you want to accomplish, but just need the push, then read this book! I also love that this book is from a Christian perspective, but is still super real and isn’t written in Christianese lol. Seriously, just read it.
Alright, off to start accomplishing my summer goals. Thanks for stopping by, and please let me know any good books that I have to read in the comments below. I know I said my TBR is forever long…but I really don’t mind making it longer! 🙂
