Who can resist the $1 dollar price tag of every item at the Dollar Tree!? However, sometimes it can be a bit daunting sorting through ALL the items, and wondering if you are getting a good deal and if the products are actually WORTH it!
These are some of my tried and true items that I can tell you (at least where live) are a better deal to buy at the DT!
I only go to the Dollar Tree about once a month. When I go, I know to stock up on these products!
Gifts
Cards are always over-priced at any other store! I always make sure to buy special occasion cards at the Dollar Tree! I usually keep a stock of basic ones like bridal shower, wedding, new baby, and birthday at home, and then go and get these speciality ones they put out at certain times of year! The main times I have seen these (they are separate from the card section, usually right when you walk in) are for Graduation and Mother’s and Father’s Day.
Tissue paper is another gift item that is going to just end up in the trash! So why spend a lot of money? I love getting a big packet of the white tissue paper and then sometimes I pick up the speciality kind!
I also love getting my gift bags at the Dollar Tree! They actually make some super cute ones that don’t look cheap!
These storage baskets are great for bridal shower gifts. I love getting one and filling it with “must have” home products, such as soap, detergent, dish towels etc. I try to always put something on their registry in there along with essentials they may not think about needing! Such an affordable and cute gift idea!
Cleaning
We do not buy plastic water bottles in our household (unless we are going on a trip), so normally we are using reusable bottles. These bottle cleaning brushes are great because we can switch them out often and don’t feel like we are wasting money because they only cost $1!
I also love these microfiber clothes not for the kitchen (they won’t dry a thing!), but rather for dusting and cleaning things like the TV!
These stainless steel scourers are amazing! You get 3 for $1 and they are great to use for removing food that is stubbornly stuck on your pots and pans!
Okay these sponges are great! A pack of 6 for a dollar!? Say what!? I like to change out my sponges often because…ew..germs. So I don’t want to spend a lot of money on them, and I also don’t feel like I need the best sponge ever. These do the job!
Kitchen
Both sandwich bags and aluminum foil are a great deal at Dollar Tree! I always stock up on these items!
Okay, I don’t always go in and buy dishes there, but it is good to check because they often get nicer brands in and they are discounted! They can have some super cute mugs and such!
Some of the food at the dollar tree changes out. I always look for food items that probably came from the regular store and has been discounted. For example, they might have Halloween themed cereal after Halloween, but it’s still within date for another month! Always check the dates on food though, you don’t want to buy something that might be bad in a week if you don’t plan to use it super quickly!
Beauty
I always love getting name brand hair bands, scrunchies, etc. at the Dollar Tree!
The makeup is often switched up! They usually have a great nail polish selection. One time I even found essie products!
Miscellaneous
Dollar Tree’s fake flower’s are always seasonal. I would obviously prefer real flowers, but sometimes when you need fake ones, check the Dollar Tree, they look beautiful and are wonderful quality!
I always stock up on toys like jump ropes and such for whenever we do our Shoeboxes at Christmas time!
I never ever spend full price on mailing products. These Bubble mailers are so much cheaper than what you spend at the post office! I also buy my packaging tape at the DT as well!
I have found some great books at the Dollar Tree before! Always check. Some make great gifts (like a cookbook for a bride to be), and some I just want to read myself. Often times you can check the price on the inside cover jacket. I’ve bought a book that sold for $50 dollars at the DT before! That’s insane!
Also, they usually carry adult coloring books, which make great gifts too!
Those are my must haves from the Dollar Tree! So tell me, what do you always buy there to save some money?
Thanks for stopping buy and I hope you save some money! P.S. If you like saving money check out my other budget blog posts here!
