The other day I was cooking in my kitchen and thinking about all the things inside it that came from people we loved. We were so blessed with so many gifts at our wedding, and it got me to thinking about what were the items I was most thankful that I registered for. I thought it might be helpful, if you are getting married to know what we in the Holloway household use the most off of our registry!
Before we go through the list, just know this was hard to narrow down! There really hasn’t been anything we were gifted off of our registry that we just plain haven’t used. Also there are items like a spatula.. that of course we use all the time, but I decided not to include them because they are such small items, and very obvious!
All right! Let’s get started!
We registered at Macys, Target, and Amazon. Amazon is obviously awesome and has just about everything, but not everyone is on board with online ordering, so Macys was a great place for the more expensive items (and they are so helpful when you go to register), and Target was great for some of the less expensive items.
Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless Steel 13-Peice Cookware Set: I did a lot of research before hand on what types of pots and pans to buy. I decided on stainless steel even though I realized there might be slightly more up keep along the way. However, stainless steel lasts a long time, and so far we have been very happy with this cookware set! Once you learn how to cook with stainless steel, and you buy yourself a container of Bar Keepers, you’re good to go! I also picked this set because it wasn’t the cheapest of the cheap, but it also wasn’t the most expensive!
Cuisinart GR-4N Griddler: One thing you have to know about me is that I am not a huge fan of having a ton of kitchen appliances/tools. Occasionally I like things that make my life easier, but I don’t necessarily want to store a waffle maker, an ice cream maker, and a bread maker, and so on. So, if you are like me, than this Griddler is perfect! It is not only a griddle for pancakes and such, but you flip over the inserts, and it turns into a mini grill for chicken, hamburgers, panini etc. Also, you can buy another insert for it to make it into a waffle maker! So that is one appliance that does three major things! In the winter, this is how we cook our meat, and whenever we make pancakes we use this! Also, It has such easy clean up (way easier than a George Foreman grill)! You don’t have to worry about getting the electrical parts wet because everything comes off of it that you need to wash! Obviously I am a big fan of this appliance! lol
Kitchen Aid Mixer: I’ve always wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer for my home so I had to register for it even though it was a costly item. Honestly, if I hadn’t registered for it, I don’t know if I would have gotten one for awhile just because of their cost! However, the cost is totally worth it! I absolutely love using mine for baking! There is a good chance someone in your life wants to splurge for you on your wedding day, so just put it on your registry! 😉 Also, make sure you are wise about your color choice. I love the adorable mint color, but I went with silver because I knew I wanted to keep my mixer forever, and I didn’t want to make a trendy choice that I myself would want to change five years down the road.
Zwilling J.A. Henckels Twin Brand Bellasera 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware Set: It surprises me how many people don’t register for silverware, or how many people don’t register for NICE silverware! We went with a set that we knew would last us for many many years and one that would not rust along the way. From my little bit of research before registering, I learned that you want your silverware to be 18/10 to prevent rust. Anything else, and honestly you will probably see some form of rusting, especially if you have hard water. The cool thing about this set is that the knife stands up, you would have to see it to know what I mean, but it’s a unique feature. When we registered at Macy’s the lady working told us this was currently the most popular set of silverware, so we must not be alone in our selection! I would recommend registering for two sets of 8, that way when you one day host a big party, or you just don’t do dishes for awhile 😉 you will be prepared!
Lennox French Perle Bead White Set: Our dishware that we picked out is truly my favorite! I went with a white/off-white set so that it could match with any occasion. I knew I wouldn’t get tired of white. Also, I loved that this set was sort of vintage looking, so that when the plates started to have some wear to them, it wouldn’t be as noticeable. So far, after using them daily, I’ve noticed little to no wear which is awesome! We registered for 8 sets and 2 extra large dinner plates. If I were to go back in time I think I would have registered for everything separately though, because we really didn’t need 8 of the same mug (we have our own mug collection).
Martha Stewart Cake Stand: While this is definitely not a need, I love how this adds decoration and height to a food display when we are hosting. Also, whenever I make any type of baked goods, I enjoyed putting them in the cake stand and displaying them on our kitchen table. I think a cake stand just adds and extra homey feel to the kitchen!
Pyrex Class Bake and Store Set: We use our glass baking set all the time! The big 9 x 13 one is great for casseroles and sheet cakes and such! The 9 x9 is great for brownies and the bowls are great for leftovers. This is definitely a bit of a boring item, but we use all these items so often, and their quality is great, I don’t know what we would do without them!
J.A. Henckels International SilverCap 14-Piece Block Set: This set of knifes is a great set for a great price! I love that you not only get knives for all your kitchen needs, but you also get six steak knives.
Shark Vacuum Cleaner: I’ve heard so many people talk about how much they love their Shark vacuum and I completely agree with all of them! The Shark vacuums are similar in quality to Dyson, but at a fraction of the cost! I can definitely testify to this because growing up we had a Dyson, and I truly think our Shark cleans better than the Dyson. Also, the Shark is really light to carry and smaller than other vacuums.
So those are my must haves/most used registry items for Todd and I! If you would like me to do an in-depth post about everything to register for let me know! 🙂
