Hey friends! It’s that time of the month again to share my recent reads with you, and I’m SO HAPPY because none of these books were duds at all!
As always I’m joining a few others around the web, and sharing our book reviews.
The Banker’s Wife by Christina Alger
First up I read The Banker’s Wife when I was on our cruise, and I flew through it in about 2 days! (no cell service/wifi will do that to ya!). The book follows a few different characters, one of them being Annabel, who suddenly finds that her husband is dead and wrapped up in a scandalous mystery surrounding a large financial institution. This book was super fast paced, and actually felt like I was reading a movie! I thoroughly enjoyed it and I want to read more from Cristina Alger! Also, this is a great example of a “thriller” that didn’t deal with too much with any creepy/dark storyline (example no scary/crazy ex. boyfriend, abuse, etc.) which made me enjoy it more!
Rating: 4/5 Stars
What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty
I had read a few other books by Liane Moriarty in the past, and this has been on my TBR for a long time, and I’m so glad I finally read What Alice Forgot, because this book is amazing! I would classify it as light chic-lite, that gives you all the good feels (not sad) in the end and may just make you cry (I did!). Alice Love finds herself in a hospital bed, thinking she is 29, but reality check…she’s actually 39, getting a divorce, and has three kids! Alice is left trying to connect the dots and remember the last 10 years of her life! This one gave me slight Sophie Kinsella vibes, and was a light read that had a purpose. Read this if you haven’t!
An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena
The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena was one a huge hit last year, so I was excited to pick up her latest book, An Unwanted Guest. This one was totally different than The Couple Next Door; way more Agatha Christie (maybe just not done as well as Agatha Christie). The book follows a few guests at a small inn that have found themselves without cell service or power because of a major storm. When one guest ends up dead, and then another, they all start to question who the killer is among them. I enjoyed the story and read through it rather quickly, however I was able to predict the ending! Even though I didn’t give this the highest rating, I still think this is one worth reading if you enjoy a good classic murder mystery.
Rating: 3/5 Stars
The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas
Five cheerleaders died in only a month, and five years later one of the girl’s sisters goes looking for answers. The Cheerleaders by Kara Thomas is a YA thriller that has been getting some really good reviews, so I decided to check it out. I read through the story in 2 days: super fast paced and easy read! It honestly didn’t feel super YA which I enjoyed, and the ending was a bit surprising!
Rating: 4/5 Stars
This month was definitely thriller heavy, but my next 3 books I’m reading are not thrillers (trying to change it up a bit)!
If none of this books float your boat, then check out my other book reviews here to find a book that you will enjoy!
