Hey Friends! I have been looking forward to this day because I am linking up with some other bloggers to share my Recent Reads! I always get such great suggestions from you guys and I just love to talk books.
Although, I know some of you happen to not love books, so might I suggest starting the show Sherlock on Netflix? Todd and I have been loving it when we need a mystery fix!
These past two months I read three books each month, I would have preferred to read more, but life was super busy with a new job and moving!
*I received a free copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
This book was a fast-paced mystery thriller. The story follows a man who finds out that everything he thought he once knew about his family and his life is all a lie. I enjoyed this book when I read it, but honestly at this point I can barely remember it! So if you like thrillers/mysteries and quick reads then I would say you could pick it up, otherwise I would pass.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Anne Shaffer
Whenever a movie based on a book comes out I always try to read the book before I watch the movie, so I had to pick up this book. Ya’ll I struggled a bit with this book. I still enjoyed the story which is told completely in letter format about a girl who writes about WWII and is now searching for her next writing project after the war. However, it just didn’t move quickly, so it took me awhile to finish it (even though it’s a relatively short book). Now all of my bookish community is going to hate that I’m saying this…but I actually preferred the book over the movie! The movie made it come to life and my husband even enjoyed it! Also, I appreciate how clean this book is, you don’t find many books and movies that are as clean as this story!

This was my first time ever reading a true crime book. I’ve always gotten sucked into true crime podcasts and t.v. shows (such as 60 minutes). I think it’s my want for justice to be served; I want the bad guy to be found. So I found this book quite intriguing because it follows a regular woman trying to solve the Golden State Killer case. Now, this is not a spoiler alert because they tell you in the beginning, but in the time of writing this book they did not actually find the killer, however because of the research the killer has now been found. So even though it was disappointing that I didn’t get to read about them catching him, afterwards there was a conclusion, it was just found online. I would recommend this book if you enjoy true crime tv shows, however I wasn’t the biggest fan of all the details the book tells you about the crimes committed, so if you are sensitive to those types of things I would stay away.

Real Murders (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, Book 1) by Charlaine Harris
I listened to the first Aurora Teagraden mystery on audiobook in my car while I was driving and it was a great experience! I heard about this series because Hallmark bases some of their mystery movies off these books (and I love Hallmark mystery movies!). The audiobook was easy to listen to (although I had a bit of a hard time keeping characters straight). I also enjoyed the cleanness of this book (okay it is about a murder, however it reads like a Hallmark movie). The reason I didn’t give it the highest rating is because it really didn’t have any huge twist or turns and it wasn’t so fast pace that it made me want to keep on listening longer (even though it was a quick read)!

Just Open the Door – A Study of Biblical Hospitality by Jen Schmidt
In October I finished up this Bible study with my church and ya’ll this was fire! I would recommend this if you are looking for a good Bible study, but there is also a book format of it which I’m sure is also great. This Bible study addresses hospitality as not just throwing fancy dinner parties, but rather it is so much more. Jen also takes you through the Bible to show you how Jesus did hospitality and how we should follow his example! This might be my favorite Bible study I’ve ever done!

The Death of Mrs. Westaway by Ruth Ware
Ruth Ware is probably my favorite thriller writer. The Woman in Cabin 10 is still my all time favorite thriller, and anytime a new book of hers comes out I immediately try to read it! I waited forever for this book from my library, and in the process read many of your reviews, which had me worried that I wasn’t going to like it. However, I loved it! Ware is so good at setting the scene of a novel, and this book has all the feels of a Gothic setting, which I thought was really fun. Also, the story line was really different. The story focuses in on a girl named Hal who gets a letter in the mail saying the has a large inheritance to claim. I agree with many of you that feel like maybe we needed more explanation about the ending, but overall I really enjoyed this read!

I’ve already picked up my holds from the library so I have a quite a few more books to be reading, but what else should I add to my TBR! Leave me a comment below about what you are currently reading!
