This post took me forever to write, because I kept thinking of goals and then forgetting them! LOL! A lot of people think I’m crazy for setting goals in Summer, but honestly I feel like I get so much accomplished when I list them out. Do you set goals in the summer or am I all alone? 😉
I also set both fun and not so fun goals, because I have to factor fun in or I just don’t seem to make it happen!
Also, last year I set summer goals, you can check that post out here. And looking back, while I didn’t accomplish everything, I feel like I completed them pretty well, so here’s to hoping this year is the same!
1. Clean and organize the areas that never get cleaned and organized
YIKES! This is a must! A few areas I really need to clean up and organize are my car, my makeup, tupperware cabinet, pantry and fridge, and my closet. I’m hoping to declutter and make life simpler in all these areas!
2. Do yoga at least 3-4 days a week
I have to admit something. I have not worked out probably all school year. I know…you’re shaking your head at me right now. I’ve also learned that the typical exercise routine of cardio and strength training is just not something I look forward to. So therefore, I won’t do it. So thankfully now that I’ve learned myself and won’t force my to do something I dread, I can now work in exercise I will enjoy and that seems to be Yoga. I love these youtube videos that I can follow along with. I actually look forward to do them. As a Christian, I also find that yoga can be a really good time to pray and talk to God! I always feel refreshed afterwards and that’s what I need in an exercise routine!
3. Continue to improve my blog/Instagram
Sadly when times are busy the first thing that falls of is my blog and I hate that. I’m hoping to have a consistent schedule set up during the summer that will continue into the Fall. Also, I have made small improvements along the way of my blog, but I want to constantly be learning new things! I want to improve my content and grow the amount of people that read my blog. Also, I want to see my Instagram content improve, and see more followers there as well. I am currently listening to this podcast to help learn more ways I can improve!
4. Explore our town and surrounding areas
Anyone else feel like there is a lot in your town or surrounding area that you’ve just never done, but always been meaning to? Well that’s my husband and I. We have so much fun stuff to do right in our own backyard, but we just don’t take the time to do it! Todd and I made a bucket list for our area. Now, we probably won’t do it all, but we would like to put a dent in it! I’m sure you all will be seeing a lot of what we end up doing through pictures on here and Instagram! 🙂
5. Work on Photography
This goes along with improving my blog and instagram. I want to learn how to work my husband’s super nice camera, and I also want to learn how to better edit pictures the way I want them to look.
6. Pay off debt
Ya’ll, this is the one I am most excited about! As long as nothing major happens between now and August, we will have paid off all our college debt! We wanted our debt off our backs so we have been paying it off like crazy (thanks Dave Ramsey) pretty much after we got married. I can’t wait till this is the case because then we can start saving and looking for a house! 🙂
7. Scrapbook
I used to be so good about scrapbooking, but about three years ago I really feel off the wagon, and I tried to get back on last Summer, but didn’t get to far. I’m hoping this Summer I can catch up a bit, maybe at least through our honeymoon? Any of you guys scrapbook and have just gotten behind? Please tell me I’m not alone! lol
8. Try a few new recipes
During the school year I seem to get in a routine of cooking what I know we like. But I want to add in some new recipes every once in awhile. This week I’m trying out a new cheesecake, and I also just bought a rack of ribs to try and make (never made them myself).
9. Implement a cleaning routine
I’ve always just cleaned as needed, but it turns out to be a lot of cleaning on Saturday, and I hate spending Todd’s day off with him cleaning, so I’ve already written a cleaning schedule up, one that seems very do-able, and I’m hoping I can follow it to keep our house looking great!
9. Read, watch Netflix, and enjoy Summer
This is the goal that is reminding me to have fun and relax. Anyone else out there feel like as soon as you sit down to do something “fun” you automatically feel guilty for not doing something off your to-do list? If you could see me, I’m raising both my hands(okay I’m typing…but metaphorically) because that describes me perfectly. So this summer I want to watch through a few series on my to-watch list, and read through a few books on my to-read list, and sometimes I want to just go sit outside and enjoy the weather.
Let me know what your goals are this Summer! Our if you don’t have goals, what your plans are!
Thanks for stopping by!
